Education stakeholders in Mwanza have described insufficient teaching and learning resources in schools as main factors contributing to poor performance of learners in national examinations.
This was revealed when World Vision Malawi was donating 251 pieces of school furniture, including desks and chairs which have been equally shared between Phanda and Chiwale primary schools in Senior chief Nthache's area.
Emily Matewere, Primary School Advisor (PEA) for Thawale zone hailed the organization for the donation, saying it will motivate learners to actively attend classes.
Meanwhile, Elliot Mlera, headteacher for Chiwale Primary School said the school had been relying on 40 dilapidated desks donated in 2016.
World Vision Malawi programmes Manager for Mwanza district, Samson Semu says the organization will continue supporting government in raising the quality of education standards in the country.
The donation was made possible with support from World Vision America.
