Member of Parliament for Mwanza West constituency, Joyce Chitsulo says sports is one key component that if used properly can help in bringing peace and harmony in a society where its people are divided politically.
She was speaking on Sunday, December 29,2024 during the finals of Joyce Chitsulo football and netball trophies in her constituency.
Chitsulo said world over, spors has been used as 'weapon unifier' to defeat racial discrimination and bring the country together.
"Am certain that these sports developments are healing our constituency from political divisions. In this area, I always urge the youths to be agent of peace and harmony, preaching tolerance and sow seeds of coexistence to all those who want to divide us because of political differences. And sports has been used to help to orchestrate social cohesion and unity while urging them to work tooth and nail in education studies," she said.
The 10 million Joyce Chitsulo Trophy Finals Part 1 saw Beato FC beating Njanjama Stars FC by 1:0 and got away with K1.2 million, footballs, gold medals, football jerseys and boot bags while the runners up also got their consolation prizes. In the women category, Beato Sisters are the champions and have collected K600,000 cash with jerseys and net-balls .
