People of Mwanza West constituency have lauded government for constructing two additional health centers at Chimbwinda and Thetula in senor Village Headman Kasuza.
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony on Monday, December 16, 2024, traditional leaders and Member of Parliament for the area, Joyce Chitsulo said the construction of the health centers in the area is momentum milestone in as far universal healthcare services are concerned.
"We would like to thank government of President Dr Lazarus Chakwera for two facilities that will be built in response to the growing pressing healthcare needs of thousands of people surrounding these communities. This is a clear testimony that government considers health sector as critical area for socioeconomic development and the realization that most Malawians rely on the public health sector to meet their healthcare needs
"With various diseases in our society, it is imperative that our healthcare systems respond accordingly at a local level before referrals are done. These two local structures will therefore play a key role in this regard. This is similar to the active primary of the outreach programme that brings much- needed healthcare services closer to the community, said Chitsulo.
In his remarks, Dr Anthony Chafunya, Mwanza DHO said government will continue to ensure that no Malawian has to travel more than an hour to access quality healthcare hence it continues to construct more clinics in the villages.
"Apart from potential to not only bridge geographical disparities in the health sector, but also it boosts local economies through job creation during and after construction," he said.
In his speech, Senior Traditional Authority Nthache thanked Chakwera and his government for always helping people of Mwanza West constituency much needed developments.
The construction of the health centers will take only 7 months to finish
