In 2019, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared that honourable Joyce Chitsulo has emerged the winner for Mwanza West constituency after defeating 8 challengers. She amassed 5,582 votes against her nearest challenger Donewell Nchingula who got 3,235 votes.
It is expected that in 2025, she will retain the seat following several development projects that she has done in the constituency with the help of traditional and faith leaders among others
