Deputy Minister Chitsulo celebrates women on International Women's Day of Prayers

Statement by Deputy Minister of Local Government Unity and Culture, Joyce Chitsulo on International Women's Day of Prayers

The People of Mwanza West constituency join His Excellency President Dr Lazarus Chakwera in congratulating and appreciating women in the country for their indispensable contributions to the nation's progress through hardworking, prayers, fasting and supplications.

It is worth noting that President Chakwera has constantly reaffirmed his commitment to uplifting all women, especially those in rural communities because he acknowledges that they are the "pillars of wealth and power."

It is not a secret that the presence of women leaders at bottom local and national front as displayed by Chakwera have advanced rights, enhance equality, and in general improved the living standards and quality of lives of all concerned, including that of men.

Being a global ecumenical grassroots movement of Christian event whose liturgy is prepared by women themselves, it is vital that the country joins them in prayers and supplications.

This year's theme is : "I made you wonderful" and is celebrated worldwide on the first Friday in March.
