Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture of the Joyce Chitsulo is in Monrovia the Capital City of Liberia attending the 2025 Amujae Leaders Engagement with High Level Political Leaders and the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center 5th Anniversary Celebrations.
The flagship program of the EJS Center, the Amujae Initiative’s objective is to inspire and prepare women to unapologetically take up roles and excel in the highest echelons of public leadership, and to bring other women
Launched on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2020, the vision for the Amujae Initiative is to shift the landscape for women in public leadership in Africa, moving from a culture of tokenism to one that truly values women leaders.
The objectives of the flagship is among others to;
Enhance capacity and effectiveness of women in public leadership, Embolden women in public leadership, to aspire to the highest positions, Strengthen ties among a growing, experienced, and capable network of women public leaders,Positively influence public perception of women’s leadership across Africa among others.
Amujae is a local language which means 'we are going up'
In her remarks, Chitsulo lauded President Dr Lazarus Chakwera for creating a conducive environment for women in the country to showcase their skills at international forum like Amujae.
Dr Ellen Johnson Sirleaf the Former President of Liberia started the flagship.
