The elderly and school children in GVH Mpeni on Sunday, November 17 were on cloud nine after their Member of Parliament for Mwanza West constituency, Joyce Chitsulo splashed several gifts to them as part of birthday celebrations of her last born son, Elton Wayankha Junior.
During the celebration, 20 elderly people received zitenje, packets of salt and sugar, clothes and K5,000 cash for each elderly while 70 pupils got some food stuffs and some bags of maize as a donation to Mpeni CBCC, among others.
In his remarks, Group Village Headman Mpeni hailed the MP for various socioeconomic developments that are taking place in his area such as CBCC, school blocks at Malowa, rural electrification program in villages of Lusineya, Eneko and Mpeni, construction of health centers at Kalanga, construction of police unit and houses, secondary schools and markets.
Concurring with chief Mpeni, was Senior Traditional Authority Govati who also lauded their MP for being visionary and development conscious leader.
In her humble remarks, Chitsulo reiterated that her commitment to uplift the face of the constituency by continuing with socioeconomic development plans that are tailored to eradicate poverty. Chitsulo has since promised to work with any person regardless of their political affiliations because she believes that success of the area will lead to unity and social cohesion.
