Governance experts have said road infrastructure is key driver of economic growth and job creation. No wonder President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has taken firm step to prioritize this sector under his administration.
Concurring with the president development footprint, Deputy Minister of Local Government,Unity and Culture, Joyce Chitsulo says infrastructure development is the foundation of socioeconomic transformation of any country.
"We need infrastructure to drive out economy. Roads are the trade veins of the economy as reduce distances and travel time thereby bringing in a substantial reduction in logistical costs.
"President Chakwera has remembered the cries of people surrounding of Thambani. And we are very grateful to him. Government have come and gone with promises but finally next month,.these people will have a smile on their faces as you know roads enhances connectivity and industrial growth, business will now flourish among other," said Chitsulo who is also Member of Parliament of the area.
The road cuts through a forest to reach Thambani but it is hilly and becomes slippery during rain season and no vehicles passes during that time making patients stranded whenever there is a referral case to Mwanza District Hospital.
